I'm Steve Mazac. I've spent more than a decade working in data: database administrator, data engineer, senior data analyst. I've seen how data gets built, shaped, and presented, and I know what gets left out.

My kids learned formal logic and they can spot logical fallacies, but a cropped Y-axis, a cherry-picked date range, or a sample size buried in the footnotes are different problems, and almost nobody's covering them even though they're what actually shapes what people believe today.

It depends on your state's requirements. The course covers standards-aligned critical thinking and statistics content (GAISE, Common Core Statistics HSS, Common Core ELA critical thinking, NAMLE Media Literacy). Could be used as a half-credit elective in critical thinking or math.
